Casio's work coding and hacking anonymously online have brought him enough attention that he worries he's being hunted. That's why he can't go to college. His parents think he's being an idiot, and are always on the verge of kicking him out. Obviously he could get into college--he's invented a brilliant new way of analyzing information, one that no one but him understands.

Sebastian ends up hiring Casio for exactly this method of analysis; he believes Casio can find Cait Blank by studying just about every piece of data ever. Casio is sure he probably could, if Cait wasn't some lady that Seb made up. But money and protection are money and protection, and Cait might just be real.
